THIS IS OUR STORY AND WE'RE STICKING TO IT
We started business as The BS Express Mobile Catering Co, in January 1978. In 1990, in downtown Kennewick we added a sandwich shop to better utilize our facilities and products. In 1997, we moved to our present location in the Richland Airport, in the Control Tower Building with the windows around the top floor, and lights and instruments on top for local aircraft to use. We also changed our name to Almost Gourmet at the Port, but we still are best known as BS Express to many people.
In the beginning, my wife Dottie, my daughter Robin, and my son Rick were all involved in our business. In 2001, Dottie flew off into the heavens, Robin married and moved to Layton, Utah, with her family, leaving Rick and I to operate this business. Sharon (Red) and Jodi (Grandma) are currently taking care of the general cooking and housekeeping chores, and as you can see, they do a great job of it. Rick and Windy now drive the catering trucks. Windy is a great gal too. I hope they never leave us, but I must be careful what I say or they will be asking for a pay raise.
We really enjoy the location, because I spent 23 years in the US Air Force on the flight line taking care of military planes, and now I'm back on a flight line selling food. But we really enjoy planes, and enjoy being around them, tho military planes are larger, faster, and lots noiser than our "Richland Air Force". Another thing we enjoy about this business is the hundreds of people we have met and become acquainted with. Many of our original customers still come see us. We do appreciate that. The wealth of friendship.
